Import a new car to Sudan
Usually — but read the condition below first. Traffic in Sudan drives on the right, and every car we sell is left-hand drive. We buy the car new from a franchised dealer in Oman, handle the export documents, and ship it to you.
Brand new, but we are not a franchised dealer: your country will treat it as a used import, and the manufacturer's warranty ends at the border.
One thing to know about Sudan
Sudan bars the import of used vehicles, with narrow exceptions for people returning to live there — and Sudan will classify our car as used, because we are not a franchised dealer. Before we quote, we confirm in writing with Sudan Customs that you can import the car, and we settle how you will pay us and the insurance and war-risk cover for the voyage.
How the car reaches you
We load at Sohar, Salalah or Duqm — whichever suits the sailing — and the car is discharged at your port. Which port we load at depends on the route to you and on what is sailing at the time.
Shipping is quoted when you ask, separately from the car — and priced on the day, not off a table. Freight moves with the season and with what is happening on the route, so a figure published a month ago can be wrong today.
What we do
- Confirm the price and the exact specification with the dealer in Oman before you commit to anything.
- Buy the car new. A chassis number exists from that moment, and it goes to you with the paperwork.
- Prepare the export documents and the invoice in your name.
- Book the transport to you — by sea to your port, or by road within the GCC — and tell you what it costs before you agree to it.
What you confirm at your end
Your country decides whether a car can be registered when it arrives, and those rules are yours to satisfy. Before you commit, check:
- That your country will admit a car it classifies as used — because we are not a franchised dealer, that is how it will be treated, even though the car is brand new and has never been registered.
- Any limit on the age of an imported vehicle, and any emissions or inspection standard it must meet.
- The duty, tax and clearance costs you will pay on arrival — none of which is in our price.
- Whether you need an import permit or licence, and who will clear the car through customs for you.
We will tell you what we know, and we will not publish a figure for another country's duty or age limit unless we have checked it. Where we have checked one, it is on this page. Where it is not, ask — and confirm it with your own authority as well.
What the car does not come with
The manufacturer's warranty does not cross the border. It is honoured by the dealer network in the country that sold the car, and exporting the car ends it. If we arrange any cover, the quote names it; otherwise there is none.
